let's demeleier
[Sadie's been in this miserable hole for only a couple of days. All things considered, she thinks, it could be a lot worse—she has a croft all to herself, which is certainly better than nothing. Makes things a lot easier. And people are really helpful. A lot of people have already reached out to her a bit, making sure she's got what she needs. She's familiar enough with how to use her mirror, which she's left back in her bed, under her pillow. She even has a ball of iron in her pants pocket.
That's not to say that she isn't carrying around an idle sense of dread in the back of her mind, of course. There's lots of violent attacks by monsters, which, you know, even if Sadie is a pretty capable and independent person, is still a frightening and stressful prospect. That besides, Sadie's learned that the time spent in this place, while it at least isn't forever, is indeterminate; she doesn't know when next she'll see her friends, or her mom.
She knows it's useless to dwell on that too much, though—so she's trying to focus on something more productive. So right now, she's just focusing on splitting logs on top a tree stump—she doesn't need a ton of firewood for herself personally, but extra doesn't hurt. She'd like to have some resources to share in return for the kindness that these fellow captive inhabitants have shown her...
She's been at it a while. Splitting another small log in half cleanly with a well-centered, heavy chop, Sadie deflates with a heavy exhale, wiping sweat off her brow. She was a little chilly earlier, but now she's honestly a little over-warm, and a little winded. Maybe she'd gone a little too hard. She decides it's time for a break. She rests the hatchet atop the splintered stump.]

That sounds like... a lot. Guess I've got time to get used to it, though.
[Sadie absent-mindedly recrosses her ankles.]
Guess I'll find my place, though. As long as I feel like I'm pullin' my weight, I'll be happy.

You're a good person, Sades. Just stick with peeps like Kristos—uh, that's what I call Ezekiel—and me, and you'll be okay. And don't feel bad about not having any magic; there's plenty of people where I'm from, and people here, too, who don't have any, either, and they get along just fine. Hey—is it okay if I call you Sades?

—And, yeah! That's totally fine, I don't mind nicknames. [It's a cute nickname. It's not the first time Sadie's heard it, but it's definitely been a while...]

[Eniko finishes her apple in a couple more leisurely bites, then sits up and puts the core next to Sadie's. She blinks her eyes open and looks over at the small heap of chopped wood.]
Hey, do you want some help carrying all this wood somewhere? Some fae might snag it if we just leave it sitting here. They don't even need firewood, but they'd take it anyway.

Let's take the bulk of it to my croft, and we can take the rest to yours? I'll worry about giving it away to people later.

Sounds good to me! And oh, good—you're all moved in already! What do you, uh... think of our accommodations?
[Eniko's tone implies that she doesn't think much of them at all, even though she's smiling for Sadie's sake. She starts to put wood in her basket—still holding it a bit delicately to avoid splinters, even after using firewood for so long by now.]
